Calcium carbonate is an inexpensive supplement, which is an effective source of calcium for many people, but not for those with inadequate stomach acid or other absorption problems. Since older people often have such problems, this product is not recommended as a calcium source for those over 50. Take 1/4 heaping teaspoon one to two times daily with or without food, or as recommended by a healthcare practitioner.
